Ran the ship (pardon the pun) from the days his first Tesla was built and shipped from the USA. Now taking a well-earned break.
His story
How he came to run the shipping forum is a classic case of "if you want it done right, do it yourself".
The personal quest: like many early Tesla owners, he was frustrated by the lack of news about his own delivery. So he started digging into maritime data to find the ship carrying his car.
The method: he cross-referenced VIN registrations, port schedules at Pier 80 in San Francisco, and satellite AIS tracking of car carriers.
The name: legend has it his username reflects the miserable experience of waiting for a Tesla with no updates. By sharing what he found on TMC, he went from frustrated customer to the main source of information for thousands of others.
Taking the helm: his tracking became so accurate, often beating Tesla's own sales advisers on delivery dates, that he was asked to lead and moderate the Shipping Movements threads.
What he gave the community
The shipping spreadsheet: detailed tracking of every ship from Pier 80 to Zeebrugge or Oslo.
Ship-spotting guides: he taught people to use the Panama Canal webcams to watch their cars pass through the locks.
The support group: he turned the miserable wait into a shared hobby, where waiting became an investigative sport.
